Maryborough Station contains one of the largest station buildings in Victoria. Although no longer in use for rail purposes, the building houses a number of antique businesses and a cafe. The station also contains an active freight yard which sees regular freight movements. The station is a major junction with cross country routes linking to Castlemaine and Ararat from Maryborough. The line from Ararat is Standard gauge and Dual gauge track runs through Maryborough to the north as far as Dunolly.
