Essendon Station is staffed station which contains 3 platforms. The station is used regularly by suburban electric passenger trains and also by some V/Line country passenger services. Platform 1 is very rarely used nowadays although the track servicing this platform has occasionly been used in the past to allow country trains to overtake stopping services.
