In 2007 Craigieburn became the new terminus station of the electrified suburban rail system from Melbourne. The previous Down platform was demolished and replaced with a new platform which is connected to a manned ticket office and an enclosed waiting room.
The previous Up platform and station building have been retained but the track serving this platform is not electrified. A number of electrified sidings used for the stabling of electric train sets have been constructed at the Down end of the station.
