Until 2007 Broadmeadows was the terminus of the suburban electric train service which operates from Melbourne, however most of these trains now operate through to Craigieburn, with only a small number terminating at Broadmeadows.
The station itself consists of two platforms with the western or Down platform incorporated into a private shopping complex. Some V/Line services stop at this station in addition to suburban electric services.
