Royal Park Station was once the junction station for the Inner Circle line through to Clifton Hill. The former signal box is now closed and the station is no longer staffed. A large weatherboard building is retained on the UP platform and the station is now the main interchange for the Melbourne Zoo. The DOWN station building was burnt down in the 1990s and has been replaced with a simple shelter structure.
