Werribee Racecourse Station was built to service the adjacent racecourse track. Although not electrified, it was originally planned to be part of the electrified system when overhead was extended to Werribee in the 1980s. The overhead staunchions got built as far as Werribee Racecourse but were never wired. The station has not been used since 1995 when the standard gauge track got built behind the platform makinging it impossible to access the station without crossing the SG track.
