Despite containing a relatively modern brick station building, Corio Station is unstaffed and is receives relatively little patronage compared to other stations in the Geelong area. Contributing to the low patronage is the fact that there is no housing in the immediate vicinity of the station, with the station being located adjacent to the Shell Oil Refinery.
