Sale is currently the eastern most station on the Orbost line which is still served by passenger trains. The station has been relocated from its original location in the heart of town where a shopping centre is now located. The former station site was located on a short spur such that trains had to reverse when continuing to Orbost. The current station is fully staffed and quite modern. A goods area is located along part of the former spur line to the old station.
