Sunshine is a major station containing three broad gauge platforms and a disused platform for standard gauge trains. The station is permanently staffed and is the junction of the lines to Ballarat and Bendigo at the DOWN end. A track junction is also provided at the UP end with the goods line via Brooklyn branching off the main track into Melbourne.
